Practical exterior care

How to prepare your property for exterior cleaning

Start by agreeing on the surfaces to clean and the access needed. Close doors and windows, flag existing damage, and discuss any items that need moving. Andrew confirms preparation for your particular job.

Before the appointment is agreed

Share the address, the areas you want cleaned, and photos of the exterior and access routes. Tell Andrew about damaged finishes, known leaks, loose siding, cracked glass, coatings, or recent concrete work. These details help establish whether cleaning is suitable and what the quote includes.

Mention gates, steep approaches, narrow side yards, screens, planting beds, and areas where access is restricted. If timing matters for a gathering or photography, provide the date early; it is not reserved until agreed.

Prepare the agreed work area

Close windows and doors. Move loose or fragile items away from the cleaning area where practical, and discuss larger furnishings or planters before the visit. For driveway work, confirm which vehicles need to be moved and when.

Point out sensitive plants, fixtures, outlets, and openings so preparation can be discussed. Let Andrew know about pets and access restrictions in advance. Follow the job-specific instructions rather than assuming every service needs the same setup.

Windows, gutters, and roofs have different needs

Exterior window cleaning is separate from a house wash. Tell Andrew about screens and obstructions below the windows so the agreed glass can be reached. Screens, tracks, and interior glass are not automatically included.

For gutters and roof requests, take photos safely from the ground. You do not need to climb a ladder or go onto the roof to prepare a quote. Mention leaks, loose fittings, or damaged areas; cleaning is not a repair service.

For business properties

Identify the person responsible for access and scope approval. Share delivery activity, busy entrances, preferred work windows, and any site or documentation requirements. Availability and arrangements are confirmed before work is scheduled.

After the clean

We do a walkthrough to check the finished work. Bring questions directly to Andrew so they can be discussed. Cleaning addresses the agreed surface buildup; existing wear, damage, and certain stains may remain.
